Voluntary blood donation, especially during the awareness month for this humanitarian act that saves lives, – has already become a tradition for the Prime Minister, which this year marks a decade joining the initiative to donate blood voluntarily.
The mobile unit of the Albanian Red Cross was installed today in the premises of the Prime Minister’s Office, where Prime Minister Rama, a regular blood donor for many years, together with administration employees underwent the blood donation procedure.
During the year 2024, the increase in voluntary donations at the country level has doubled. This was also witnessed by one of the doctors of the team, who explained, among other things, that regular and periodic donors simultaneously protect their organism from a number of diseases,
“2024 has been a tremendous success because we have doubled the increase in voluntary donations nationwide, in addition to conducting a wide range of analysis, which every donor receives for free. But I also want to say some benefits that the individual has when donating blood. One of them is that iron deposits are kept at healthy levels. By donating blood periodically, these iron deposits are kept at these levels that are healthy for the body, making it possible to protect us from a variety of diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, neurological diseases, allowing for the viscosity of blood pressure to decrease and in this way we are protected from all these diseases. A study with scientific evidence that was done by foreign researchers showed that if you donate blood for 6 years regularly and periodically once every 6 months, then you are protected by 95% in terms of cardiovascular and neurological diseases compared to those who do not donate blood.” – she said.
The same was confirmed by Prime Minister Rama as a regular blood donor, who said that voluntary blood donation is not only a vital help for those who need it, but it is also a renewal for those who donate.
“We have a tradition, some of us who have been here since the municipality know it very well, every year we regenerate by donating blood because donating blood is not only vital help for those who need it, but it is also renewal for those who give. There is no gift more rejuvenating than donating blood. Every rejuvenating gift, blessed is the giver, not the one who receives, but blood is the most rejuvenating gift because by donating blood, the organism gains new energy, and aging is not completely avoided, but postponed further.” – said the Prime Minister.
* Donating blood is a safe act, which does not cause complications and the donated blood is replaced, producing new elements. No type of medication can replace blood transfusion when it is needed. Blood for transfusion is taken only from humans. It cannot be produced artificially. Donating blood means giving hope, saving lives!
